LinkedIn advice for Businesses and Charities

LinkedIn is different from the other two Social Networking sites I work with in that it is purely a site for Professionals. Unlike Facebook and Twitter you won't find Games or posts about un-business related stuff here, if your Connections are using it properly that is.

Recommendations

LinkedIn gives users the opportunity to network with professionals, or seek out professionals they need and see if other people have Recommended them. You can also use LinkedIn to Recommend others that you feel have done a good service for you. Being Recommended on LinkedIn means others can see how people appreciate your work when they come searching for someone in your field, meaning you are more likely to get the work or connections you would like.

Groups

Groups on LinkedIn allow you to Create or Join Alumni Groups, Corporate Groups, Conference Groups, Networking Groups, Non-Profit Groups and Professional Groups. That is a lot of Groups!

Using these different types of Groups you can connect with people that went to your School/University, other people in your Corporation or Network with people on a National or Local Level, or even just by interest. Being in Groups also expands your professional network allowing more people to search for your details, meaning the chance of more connections.
